As everyone probably already knows the UK has taken procedures to implement a new standard feature called The Online Safety Act. This is being used to target under 18 year olds and prevent them from accessing content not meant for people under the age of 18. However this act is affecting users worldwide due to sensitive information being given when verifying your age and also certain apps requesting this information when it is completely not needed. This raises a huge privacy and security concern for multiple users, and this could start to affect even more applications, websites, and devices.
The online safety act is beginning to take affect amongst multiple different applications and websites that all require accounts to access content which could include content not meant for minors. This is NOT YET CONFIRMED, but it seems likely that Meta could be complying with the safety act and asking users on Meta Quest headsets to verify their age using personal identification. Meta is quite big on age verification and they are known to brick users headsets that do not meet their age requirements or lie about their age to gain access to their VR headset.
I will not be complying or giving my personal information away, if Meta decides to limit functionality I use or need, or even stop access to my headset until my age is proven, I will be holding back and not giving my personal information away. I will be doing this since not only is this not fair, but my sensitive information out their feels uneeded, scary, and does not feel safe. I will still continue to upload on YouTube.
I will stop all uploads related to VR until I am able to play Beat Saber without having to give away my personal identification. The website will stay up, but you will no longer be able to access all pages and requesting songs will no longer be available. This will be the only page you see to inform you about the current changes and measures I have taken.
IMPORTANT: No changes have being made at all, the online safety act has NOT hit Meta Quest headsets, and therefore I will NOT be stopping Beat Saber or VR content at all. I have no idea if Meta will follow through with this and which services they will even stop access to (e.g Meta Quest Link, The Entire Headset). In the event that this does happen, you will only see this page.
